Earlier this year, the DLP underwent a brand upgrade project. The purpose of this project was to examining the core, overarching brand which will lead our campaign with a stronger look and feel for our platform ahead of the Victorian 2018 State Election.
As part of the brand upgrade, we sought to develop a logo that represents authenticity, integrity, energy and innovation, with a look and feel combining classic and modern while remaining timeless. It needed to draw on the elements of the old but capture freshness of the new – same good, solid brand activating in a renewed way.
The main logo of the DLP references the historic brand elements of wheat thus symbolising some key values the party holds dear – Life, Family, Honest Work (Land toiled to make bread). The wheat is in a sheath symbolising the victory of truth, and the arms of the folk who believe in an Australia of integrity.
The colours denote light cutting through the darkness; the midnight blue of the Australian night sky and the gold of our grain and sun. There is a sense of hope, stateliness and strength that this colour combination should evoke.
