THE DLP SUPPORTS A PARENTAL CHOICE OF EDUCATION TYPE
The DLP proposes a per capita voucher funding for all primary and secondary schooling. The parents of each child will receive a voucher reflecting the cost to the State of that child’s education, at that child’s year level and special needs. Each voucher would be redeemable at the parent’s choice of education provider, be it state, private or home schooling.
It justly distributes taxes allocated for education, and provides equal treatment, for all students at any age or level.
We also support the essential economic, cultural and social support that Technical and Further Education (TAFE) brings to Australian communities and regions. We support increased funding for TAFE’s.
Strong TAFE’s strengthen industries, and strong industries strengthen the economy.
The education of our future generations is one of the greatest responsibilities of our nation. This must be reflected in the treatment of teachers through appropriate salaries which recognize their responsibilities.
Parents, are however, the primary educators of their children and are responsible for choosing the educational philosophy and environment which best suits their children’s needs. The DLP will safeguard the rights of parents to choose, without financial penalty, the kind of education and moral upbringing that they want for their children. This could be state, private, faith based or home schooling.
REMOVAL OF SAFE SCHOOLS
The DLP insists on the removal of the so-called ‘Safe Schools’ program and all associated programs. An inquiry must be held into the development and introduction of this damaging program and the system that promoted it needs to be purged of all associated content. Read More
BETTER ANTI-BULLYING PROGRAM
The DLP will call for the introduction of a genuine anti-bullying program such as the RULER program from Yale University.
STUDENT CREDIT SYSTEM
The DLP will introduce a student credit system voucher that gives control of education funding to the parents of the students involved.
Parents must have the right to choose between State, private, faith-based, or home schooling.
INCREASED TEACHERS SALARIES
Teachers’ salaries should reflect the responsibilities that they carry to educate our children.
SUPPORT FOR TAFES.
We support increased funding for TAFES.
Strong TAFES build a strong economy. Australia has suffered from a diminishing standard of apprenticeship training for too long.
