The Victorian State Treasurer, John McBride, has resigned from the position for personal reasons. Under changes made by the 2018 Federal Conference, all Federal and State executive vacancies will be advertised on the website for 21 days (from December 20th until January 9th) during which time eligible members may nominate for the position. All nominations must be sent by email to the State Secretary at vicsec@dlp.org.au with the subject “Treasurer nomination”. The State Executive will then elect a new treasurer from those nominated within 7 days.
I would personally, and on behalf of the State Executive, like to thank John for his great efforts in getting the party into a strong financial position and for the incredible work he put in during the recent state election. As State Secretary and Registered Officer, I can honestly say I could never have coped with all that was required in our campaign if it had not been for John. I hope everyone in the party appreciated his efforts and joins with me in wishing him all the best.
