Modern waste-to-energy is a proven technology used globally to generate clean, renewable energy from the sustainable management of solid waste. These modern plants are very different to the incinerators of a few decades ago, which usually did not remove hazardous or recyclable materials before burning.
Rather than increasing the size of our landfills, which are a health hazard to the people who live near them, we should be investing in more sustainable, innovative and efficient waste disposal.
