The Executive of the Western Australian branch of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) condemns in no uncertain terms the mandating of injections related to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as outlined in the 2 September media statement from the Health Minister, The Hon. Roger Cook.
The announcement indicated the approval of new Health Worker Directions, wherein it will be “mandatory for Western Australian health workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to access health facilities for work purposes.”
By 1 January 2022, a significant number of livelihoods and future vocations will have been discarded if this dishonourable directive is not rescinded. A comprehensive list is quoted below of the initial categories of those to be discriminated against based on their private choices of medical treatment.
“’Health care workers’ include those who provide heath, medical, nursing, pathology, pharmaceutical, social work or allied health services to a patient at a health care facility in any capacity; students on placement; and ambulance officers.
‘Health support workers’ include those who provide goods or services at a health care facility.
This applies to paid and voluntary workers, including agency staff working onsite; administrative staff; ancillary staff including cleaners, laundry staff, gardeners, food preparation services, security officers and maintenance services; providers of lifestyle and social care, eg music or art therapy and people providing commercial activities at health care facilities.’”
The DLP supports all these workers and affirms the dignity of an honest day’s work. The DLP rejects mandatory injections in relation to the SARS-CoV-2 virus for any worker or class of persons. Unfortunately, the present Labor government appears to view work as a coercive tool in its effort to exert control on the people of Western Australia, rather than a life affirming way of contributing to the community, helping others, and providing for oneself and one’s family.
The government is free to make its case about the worthiness of a medical option. However, if the government is unable to persuade citizens to accept their claims with the use of whatever reason or evidence they deploy, it does not follow that the government can then use coercion or threats to a person’s livelihood to get them to accept a particular treatment plan or medicine.
The DLP deplores the fact that this broad attack on the freedoms and intelligence of Western Australians has been met with acquiescence and even support by many institutions and media outlets. The DLP strongly supports the right of any person to maintain their bodily integrity.
If Western Australian citizens can be trusted to cast a vote and choose who will make laws in the state, then why can’t they be trusted to choose what treatment plan, medicines or injections they receive?
The DLP stands against tyranny, however called, and by whatever pretext.
