New electoral law bills passed August 2021 will decimate all registered Parties not currently represented in the Parliament.
Within 90 days of the laws passing, these small parties will be required to submit membership lists triple the current requirement in order to keep their registration.
This could lead to the de-registration of three quarters of all political parties in Australia and will particularly affect minor parties, a feature of our liberal democracy.
The DLP will survive but we need more members by the end of November 2021.
We are seeking more members to remain registered. To support our Party contest the upcoming Federal election, you can do two things:
- Ask someone you know to join the DLP. It does not cost anything to become a Supporting Member.
- It is vital you confirm that you’re a member. If and when contacted by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), confirm “YES – I am a member of the DLP”.
Become a Supporting Member of the DLP now! It won’t cost you a cent, but will help ensure the DLP is able to contest in elections.
Alternatively, join us as a Financial Member for $20.
